Wow girl you are going all out! I’m having my new in-laws over this year too. I found these really good appetizers at Costco in the frozen section. They’re called Petite Quiches (like a quiche pie only smaller) and they’re bite sized. You just take ‘em out of the freezer and pop ‘em in the oven for like 20 minutes and they’re ready. Soooo good!

Relax. You might try “grog” as a drink. It’s a 64 oz bottle of apple juice and orange juice with a cinnamon stick, apple and orange slices. You can add alcohol (Rum) or not. Put it in a crock pot to keep it warm and have a dipper. Tea goes well with ham too. You need a green side dish; green bean casserole or something similar. (Green beans, cream of mushroom soup, canned onions.) The appetizers sound wonderful but you might make some just for the kids. Take a can of pizza dough, roll it out and cut into small circles. Put a dab of cheese and a slice of pepperoni on each and bake.

I took a look at my arsenal (my recipe database) and thought you might want to try some of these sides and appetizers:
Sides:
German Style Green Beans – 9 servings
8- 9 slices bacon, fried crisp
1/2 cup onion, chopped
4 cans green beans, drained
6 tablespoons vinegar
3 tablespoons brown sugar
Reserve bacon drippings in skillet. Sautee onion in drippings until transparent. Add beans, vinegar and sugar. Heat over medium heat stirring frequently for about 10 minutes. Crumble bacon over beans and toss before serving.
Creamed Peas – 9 servings
1 bag frozen green peas
½ onion, diced
½ cup heavy cream
½ stick butter
salt and pepper
Cook peas in water to cover in saucepan until tender, about 5 minutes. Drain in colander. Melt butter in same saucepan and sautee onions over medium heat until transparent. Add peas, salt and pepper and heavy cream. Simmer over low heat for 5 minutes.
**Optional: 2 cans of sliced mushrooms added to this recipe is very good.
Appetizers:
Spinach Dip
1 package frozen chopped spinach, thawed and squeezed dry
1 cup small curd cottage cheese
1 cup sour cream
1 tablespoon mayonnaise
½ teaspoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon dried parsley
½ teaspoon dill weed
⅛ teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
salt and pepper
Mix well. Chill several hours before serving. Excellent dip for vegetables, crackers and chips.
For an added twist, toast pumpernickle rye party bread and serve as an alternative to potato chips.
Sausage Cheese Balls
1 pound sausage
¾ pound Cheddar cheese, grated
3 cups Bisquick
Mix ingredients well. Roll into balls and place on baking sheet. Bake for 20 minutes at 350 degrees.
Hope your dinner is a huge success and Merry Christmas!
